NASA was in desperate need of a video and asset gallery update if they were going to bring their content to the masses with their new SVOD service, NASA+. The original platform had an outdated interface that was difficult to navigate, causing frustration among users. The complex workflows and lack of clear visual hierarchy made it challenging for users to explore and view images and videos effectively. My task was to simplify the user journey, reduce cognitive load, and incorporate modern design principles to make the platform more user-friendly and visually appealing. Results
With the proof of concept design completed and prototyped, stakeholders were able to approve the NASA+ project into the full design and technical phases with their internal teams. Though my initial design seems to have changed somewhat after my portion of the project was completed, my UX design contributions had a significant impact on getting the initial NASA+ platform up and running.

Process
Asset & Site Audit: I started with conducting a site and asset audit followed by a card sorting exercise with stakeholders and users to help reorganize and categorize all content in a more logical manner.

Research & Analysis: I conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed google analytics to understand existing pain points and user needs. I also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights.
Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, I restructured the app's navigation and content, prioritizing features and information according to user needs.

Wireframing & Prototyping: I designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the new layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on user and stakeholder feedback. Afterward, I built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design.

The modernization of the NASA's media management and playback platform successfully addressed the core usability issues and improved the overall user experience. By focusing on simplifying the interface, categorizing content and optimizing workflows, we were able to create a more efficient and enjoyable platform for users.
